Brief comments on Broken but Unbowed (his book): Abbott suggests that constitutional amendments need to be implemented using an archaic, never-used-before (constitutional) method to allow states to implement their peoples' wishes (seems honorable). My counterargument is that America is too big, and needs to end its massive Federation (which seems to cause so many of the problems here), to allow more-local-rule.
Also, Abbott's continuing crusade on tort limits is a blemish to his own good fortunes (from his own multi-million dollar payouts, ongoing). He spends too much time discussing his physical disabilities; I'd argue he should focus more on his mental deficits.

and yet, when it comes to local zoning, where NIMBY rules, there's a large voice to call for federal overruling to make dense zoning possible despite local resident's wishes.
The idea of more local rule is only good when it suits said locals, and not good when it doesn't - it's all self-serving imho.
Abbott and Paxton are comical frauds. Anyone who believes the schtick of either one after all this time maybe shouldn't make financial or healthcare decisions without help from a competent adult.
I have worked in Texas data centers.
I have read Abbott's book [0].
I have family who have worked for him.
Their views on this world are of Power, alone.
"Why does a dog lick his balls; because he can."
I am no longer Texian. Best of luck to future Senator Talarico (D), may he [be allowed to] live long and prosper.

Look hyperlocally to Texas' own statewide overrulings of citizens' wishes:
1) Using state police to enforce laws that cities choose not to
2) Preventing cities from local environmental policies
3) Silly marijuana laws, when the vast majority of Texans support recreational taxation (whether they partake, or just want the taxbase/freedom!)
My take-away is that the Texas GOP hates most of its constituents... or at least thinks they "know better" ..?

Alternative headline: Governor Abbott pretended to pause datacenter permitting while actually fast-tracking the process.
This stunt was for the election, it was never real.
