Greg Abbott going out of his way to use the cheapest piece of shit hospital chair whenever involved in a public photo-op irks me to hell as a wheelchair user myself, and I can't quite explain why. Him making bonkers money while doing so brings it up a notch.
I guess because it just seems fake. If Newsom came out in a torn t-shirt and a pair of converse flat-tops with the soles coming apart just to drive home that he's an every-man like me it'd drive me similarly mad.
It's a mad stupid thing to get upset about, i'll admit that, but next photo-op check it out, half the time he's not even sitting on a cushion; something unheard of and unthinkable for most wheelchair users.
(Why? Because he's using that chair for ten minutes before jumping back into whatever real chair he's using when the cameras are away and his image is secure.)
other folks have some interesting views on this[0] , essentially the thought is that he's foregoing relations with other disabled people to prove himself to the able public.. it's an interesting concept, but I don't know how true it is.
Texas is interesting this cycle; Im curious after all is said-and-done if this helps or hurts. First time since 1994 a Democrat is a legit contender for governor. Data centers are gonna have a rough go of it if Hinojosa wins
Early voting already has long lines in a state that barely votes. Probably more Paxton/Talarico than the governor race though.
> Do that many people just vote for one or two races?
Texas use to have straight ticket voting so people would just show up hit Democrat or Republican and be done, still had low turn out though.
My guess is that people that arent extremely motivated to get to the polls here don't bother now. Paxton is a highly polarizing guy, if it was still Cornyn I wouldnt even bother with checking results on election night like I will this time. From my own experience I prefer that people only vote the races they know and care about; I stoped straight ticket voting when I realized I didnt know anything about the judges (or that there were even judges on the ballot) that button put my vote on and that didnt sit right.

I've always wondered about this. Do that many people just vote for one or two races? If you're there why not vote the whole ballot.

This is how our tech is being capitalized upon by US politicians. For their own power.
I want money out of politics.
