Wild stuff. Look at the US State Department's accusations, which honestly read like an ad at first:

« A/I’s cadre of radical hackers and tech developers provide a full spectrum of services – including encrypted chats and email, web hosting, secure video conferencing and streaming, anonymity shields, and a suite of other technological tools – to Marxist, anarchist, and other left-wing extremist groups in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere. »

Marxists, having video chats! Terrifying! And for that, they're branded as terrorists, and anyone in the US supporting them could (theoretically) get charged with a federal crime. Hopefully this gets knocked down by courts, but the chilling effects are severe.

Anyway, this is clearly the start of some really nasty attacks on decentralized communication infrastructure.

Considering the US started with several an anti-establishment groups (we declared our independence from monarchy), this feels ironic but I know it’s just another day in the US of Authoritarianism.
