Their basic point is very valid, and the term "AI" is now so overused that it's become essentially meaningless.
Recently I've heard "AI" used to mean:
* using large language models for code/text/image generation
* goal-driven search of a problem space
* pattern extraction from images
* algorithmic decision making
* audio pattern recognition
* something (unspecified) using lots of computers
* and more trivially, "doing it on a computer"!
