I appreciate the ethos of your app but am uneasy. First, you have given me no reason to trust you with my data—there is not even a mention of data security, for all I know all my data would be hosted on a public firebase instance. Second, you have given me zero reason to trust your advice—you are not a financial planner, the AI is not a financial planner. It is—maybe—sufficient for someone doing this on their own, but once you package it into an app and offer the service you own that relationship and you are responsible. I don't see any mention of that either.

Trust is what's missing, and you've given me no indication that I can trust you.

Fair criticism, and I appreciate you saying it directly. The footer disclaimer ("not a bank, broker, or financial advisor") is mentioned on the page, and everything is based on pure math/statistics. Savings rate, emergency fund, goal progress and more. But you're right, even if /privacy and /terms are mentioned outside and within the app i should reinforce it so it can be much clearer. On data: hosted on Supabase (SOC 2 certified, encrypted at rest and in transit), no bank credentials ever requested, no data selling. I should have made that visible above the fold, not buried in a footer. Thanks for the push

Hi HN, I built Venaya, a personal financial wellness platform designed to help people understand and manage their finances throughout different stages of life.

Instead of focusing only on expense tracking, Venaya brings together transactions, budgets, goals, subscriptions, net worth, investments and financial insights in one place.

One of the ideas behind it is that financial needs change depending on where you are in life whether you’re a student, employed, self-employed, between jobs or retired so the experience adapts accordingly.

I recently launched the beta and I’m still actively building and improving it. I’d especially appreciate feedback on the product, UX, onboarding and what you think is missing.

Would love to hear what you think
