    Google is a lot more public than it should be, but there's nothing private about chats with Claude or any other chatbot that isn't running locally. It's funny that last year Anthropic tried to say that robots.txt was enough to protect people's data when they themselves have been accused of ignoring it whenever they want to scrape websites. https://www.businessinsider.com/openai-anthropic-ai-ignore-r...

    Private as in chats for which the user generated a share link and posted it somewhere online that a search engine's web crawler found, as far as I can tell.

    Relying on search engines to "follow the rules" is the wrong approach.
