For HN Glance, perhaps there could be the list/previews column on the left, middle column for full-viewing with the right column as comments. Both 1st and 3rd columns can also be floating, and auto-hide when mouseover on the middle column and show again when mouseout.
Now that I’ve had a closer look at https://www.orangecrumbs.com, I see that they’re trying to address the same problem: how to enhance the consumption of those valuable feeds and provide additional insights to their users.
I appreciate your proposal, and in a way, I’ve already explored a similar idea. However, for this concept to be successful, you’ll need a large screen, preferably wide. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a comparable good experience on mobile devices.
I’ll revisit this idea. Thank you for the feedback. However, I want to ensure that the reader remains focused. In today’s fast-paced world, everything revolves around quick consumption and filtering options. I wanted to create a quick way to scan and evaluate the content, followed by a simple way to immerse oneself in the article, read it, scan it, and check the comments.
Love the combination of simple and modern UI over HN. Not sure if this is just a demo or a final form, but I am lagging too much scrolling through the posts.
I assume the lag is browser-dependent. I don’t resize images for thumbnails. I want to keep this simple and cheap to maintain. My next step is to find an easy-to-maintain pipeline for generating screenshots and thumbnails.
Interesting. Have you seen this? https://www.orangecrumbs.com/hn/

I didn't knew this project. Thank you for sharing. I'm always looking for better ways to consume / filter this amount of information.

As a new user here, this is fantastic. Not too over the top, a bit more information in the pictures. I'm digging it.
