It's one of my favorites. It took me some time to find it after reading it in a pulp magazine a long time ago.

This was a nice one-shot. Concise, clear, and not cluttered. It should also be posted to Reddit’s HFY subreddit.
I can't connect to that now, but that's the title of a copyrighted Lawrence Watt-Evans story, one that won a Hugo award.
