I'm old. I am not rich in the pecuniary way, but in friendship and canine companionship. And I eagerly support young candidates. I don't want to be led by good ole boys and gals who refuse to relinquish power and represent with antique ideas. We're not all jealous horders. Some just want to live in peace and are generous in spirit. And I bet you a $250 bill that we are legion.

You may be legion, but your particular legion is unfortunately never in power for obvious reasons.

"It's fair to say that 80 percent of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go,"

Let go of ... meaningful existence?

      Who could object to that.

Few are engaged in anything meaningful for the future of the species

And if you are going to argue "well for them their lives are still meaningful"

So it is for the youth they exploit and expropriate to prop up their wealth

They can go build bird houses and fly kites. The whole "line go up thing" is just a hallucinated meaningful effort

it's kind of a weird headline, the issue is about the power wielded by the old, not necessarily the share of the population that is (though this comes with its own problems like fiscal solvency and after all, power follows from representation)

        yh lol

but we all get what it means, I think
