    > Your job as a software engineer will not disappear, and it will not drastically change because of AI.

This presumes the reader has the same experience as the author. Yes, many of the non-coding aspects _have not yet_ changed drastically for some engineers. But the future isn't clear. And I think even his case for the intangible aspects is weak.

IME AI is already costing new hires their jobs and drastically changing everyone else's as new capabilities are unlocked. It's not just a change in velocity, there's also a larger volume of everything: tasks, security bugs, feedback, mocks, opinions. Some is noise while most are real signals.

Even disregarding the layoffs, this is a tough market for juniors. The same kids told to learn to code who now have fewer prospects and higher expectations.

All these articles assume that the amount of engineers on the organisation will stay the same with AI, and if there are layoffs, it is something that only affect others.
