One time around 2000 my little brother (born 1985) said, "you're so lucky, the 80's were awesome".
I grimaced and ignored the comment.
Now I get it: the 80s were awesome.
Some other great things: Amana Radaranges, getting a hand-me-down 1972 Toyota Corona from your dad, ET.

I don't get how people get so hung up about the <insert decade here>. It's your childhood/youthhood. Nothing else is special about it. In 30 years dumb people will glorify the 20s.
