I'm Cameron, one of the co-founders. Happy to answer questions about the economics of conferences (sponsor extraction, attendee value capture, the badge-scanning industrial complex) or what we learned scaling from 5,000 to 11,000 attendees. The piece is about why we left a working model. The short version: conferences optimize for sponsor access to attendees, not attendee transformation. We think Build Labs (hands-on working sessions) instead of panels might fix this. Still figuring out if that scales. Curious what others have experienced—especially anyone who's felt that post-conference emptiness and wondered if it's just them.
