Banning discussion of emissions instead of banning the actual emissions is some real banana republic shit.

    > "avoiding any terminology that you know to be misaligned with the Administration’s perspectives and priorities"

So ... Misalignment With The Admin .. is this creepy turn of phrase indicative of the problem?

EG strict authoritarian ideology, and its well-known fallacies & failings?

This isn't a surprise or even a big deal by itself. Every significantly large, politically-captured organization has its own messaging mandates including preferred, discouraged, and forbidden word/phrases lists.

All this does is underscore this regime's subservience to big coal and oil and against addressing long-term, increasing existential threats to property, the economy, lives, and the planet.

      > Biden banned words like "illegal immigration", "assimilation",

Not really. It was a change to "undocumented noncitizen" instead of "illegal alien". There's a big difference between "let's use a better word" and "you can't use the word". They weren't even legal changes and some documents still have the old phrases.

        Not specifically "women" but:

Using the term "birthing person" in a particular document != banning the term "mother"

          How is this even relevant?

If it makes you feel any better the Trump admin didn't actually ban the words "climate change", "decarbonization", etc. They added it to a list of words to avoid. The article title just editorialized it to the word ban.

I didn't really get into it in my initial comment because it sort of feels like it's besides the point, but I agree "ban" and "please avoid" are different words that mean different things, and the Trump admin did not "ban" these words. I think the comparison avoiding "illegal alien" and "climate change" is quite similar, as the administrations were trying to direct department culture through removing speech they view as political. It's another great reason why we should not depend on government for societal guidance.

And I'm at work right now but you can search for "biden admin ban word women/female/mother/etc". You may not be able to use google because they remove a lot of links to conservative outlets (I like yandex for this kind of search, although I haven't searched enough to know whether they're the best).

You have been brainwashed by the conservative propaganda machine.

Out of curiosity did you try searching for it?

I see “illegal alien” being replaced by “undocumented noncitizen”, “assimilation” with “integration” [1]. That’s bullshit. But it isn’t a ban on a concept. (“Illegal immigration” does not appear to have been restricted.)
