So Canada potentially has the ability to mitigate some regional freshwater shortages in the U.S… If it’s that valuable, perhaps someone should have tipped off the current U.S. administration before it engaged in a trade war with its former ally. I don’t recall hearing this come up during those discussions.
I wonder how commodification of water is supposed to work in this case. Would we rent out water rights?
A somewhat tangential point: I think it would be very cool if petro states started using oil money to set up massive solar powered desalination infrastructure and turn to water exporters. To keep this seems like the ultimate water commodification dream.
