I don't get the appeal of Ironmouse or Holo's Gwar Gura. Too squeaky. There's plenty of vtubers who don't put on the high pitched anime girl voice! And yet...

I don't know about Gura, but that's Ironmouse's real voice. It's like that because of a lung infection caused by her immune disorder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironmouse#Career

That was a way more interesting read than I thought it would be.

Very cool how someone in her condition can interact with the world via an avatar.

The first sentence of the wiki says that before that, she wanted to be a soprano opera singer.

Soprano is very high pitched, so she would have had said high pitched voice before hand. The pitch of a voice is not super related to lung capacity, so much as mouth/vocal chord/throat shape

Soprano isn’t really “very high”, it’s just the higher of the two ranges of women’s voice types. There’s soprano and mezzo soprano. Those are the two broad types for women. Within soprano and mezzo soprano there are subtypes, like lyric soprano, coloratura soprano, contralto, etc. (There’s a lot of detail I’m eliding here. This is not just about pure range, but about what kind of sound you can get in specific ranges using certain techniques. Also note that this classification is specific to opera and does not translate to singing in other styles or singing.)

I’ve heard statistics that most women are sopranos. It’s just that most don’t have voice training.

Likewise… and this may surprise you… I’ve heard statistics that most men are probably tenors. Like, 80%.

Well now I feel bad. Ironmouse's story is very inspirational.

seen a few clips and short part of a stream of guras. was pretty funny and ernjoyable personality i thought.

dont know the other one but dont they do gaming for content? which is the same as everyone else right.

in that asepct it would be the same as tuning into a real persons gaming stream i would think

It's because it adds contrast when they start swearing. But it's also a sort of common thing for Asian women to do to look cute (called burikko or aegyo.)

I don't watch Gura but thought she had a pretty normal voice.
