    Well, Geoff Hinton should get the prize for physiology instead. It's called “neural” networks after all.

      Let’s be honest, the connection between the Boltzmann machine and physics is about as real as Häagen-Dazs' ties to Denmark -- it’s either superficial or virtually nonexistent.

    In fairness, "using physics" is a pretty low bar. It was plain vanilla combinatorics and network theory.

    What a strange announcement. Seems like a joke.
