True that. Last time I had to manage a collection of networked printers, most of them did not support IPP but did speak native postscript. They were all on an internal utility network, so I configured cups as a passthrough/discovery for user simplicity. The quality of the postscript implementation did vary between vendors but for the most part just worked.
